Patience Is a Powerful Weapon

Knowing that God will deliver us from the evil one, we should bear with patience the trials that God permits until He comes to our aid.  God will come to you.  He will come to your need, even if it is at your most needy moment.  Patience gives us the strength to overcome all things by waiting for our Mighty Warrior, Jesus the Lord, to come to our rescue.  The Word of God reminds us of this in James 5: 7-8, “ 7 Be patient then, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. See how the sower waits for the precious fruits of the earth, looking forward patiently to the autumn and spring rains.  8 You also be patient and do not lose heart, because the Lord's coming is near.”  God is faithful.  He cannot be unfaithful because He is Fidelity Himself!  That is why we, who follow Christ, bear all things and wait with joy the action of God, while maintaining in prayer.  “Have hope and be cheerful. Be patient in trials and pray constantly.” (Romans 12,12) This is a powerful tactic against our eternally sad enemy, the devil, who cannot stand being around someone who is happy, hopeful, patient in trials, or always praying.  He runs away from these people!

God Desires to Console You

If you are suffering from different trials and desolations, God wants you to know that it is His desire to console you.  He tells you this in the book of Isaiah, chapter 41, “10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will give you strength, I will bring you help, I will uphold you with the right hand of my justice.  11 All who rage against you will be put to shame and disgrace; all who fight against you will perish and come to nothing.  12 You will seek, but will not find them; those enemies of yours, those who took up arms against you will be destroyed, brought to nothing.  13 For I, Yahweh, your God, take hold of your right hand and say to you: ‘Fear not, I am your assistance.’”  Yes, those enemies of your soul, the devil, the world and the flesh, will be brought to nothing.  But it is helpful to approach the Lord, who loves us, and present to Him our worries and our concerns, because God wants to help us.  Listen to Him say, “Come to Me all you who are wearied and heavy burdened, and I Will give you rest.” (Matthew 11,28)  He definitely proves to us that He is willing to come and save us.

God, Who Gave Us Our Name, Will Console Us

Not only when we are going through trials does God desire to come to us and help us, but also when we are faced with other tough situations in our lives.  When we feel afflicted or sad, our loving God reaches out to us and says, “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be consoled.” (Matthew 5,4)  When we are in a desperate situation, and it seems that things will just not get any better, let us hope in the Lord and say with faith, “But this, when I ponder, is what gives me hope: Yahweh's love abides unceasingly. His compassion is never consumed; it is renewed every morning.  And his love remains ever faithful.” (Lamentations 3, 21-23)  His mercy is always fresh, always bountiful, and always willing to renew us as it is renewed every morning, meaning that His mercy never finishes.  Let this good news fill your heart with joy, and realize that our God is an awesome God who does not abandon us, so we are never alone.  “Can a woman forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child of her womb?  Yet though she forget, I will never forget you.  See, I have written your name upon the palm of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” (Isaiah 49, 15-16) Blessed be God the Father, Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Lord, and the Holy Spirit, our Consoler and Comforter!  Praise God!  “Blessed be God, the Father of Christ Jesus, our Lord, the all-merciful Father and the God of all comfort!  He encourages us in all our trials, so that we may also encourage those in any trial, with the same comfort that we receive from God.  For whenever the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so, through Christ, a great comfort also overflows.” (2 Corinthians 1, 3-5)  May the God of true comfort and peace continue to fill you with His Holy Spirit. – Alvin Peρa
